Beginning

On May 25th 2009 my fiancee Addie proposed to me after 6 months of dating. I of course said yes and a few months later proposed to her. I did this because I think every woman deserves to be proposed to and I dont really follow the rules. We have since been since October 25th 2008. As you can see we have been together for 2 years and 2 months and engaged for a year and seven months.

We held off since we were both in college and working to pay rent and utilities and maintain our school work and relationship. This past August I graduated and have since been finishing up my internship and working at my part time job. She has been finishing up her degree and working full time at her job. She is set to graduate in May of next year (2011). We have been planning our wedding piece by piece but mostly who we wanted in it and colors and possible clothing. Nothing was set in stone and it was mostly ideas that we might like.

Today we began planning it for real as in setting the date and aquiring a building for the wedding. We chose June 25th 2011. We chose this date for a few reasons it is her month of birth and right in the middle of the year and for some reason that appealed to us. The summer is important to both of us since we both have summer birthdays and we knew we'd both be finished with school. Add it to that that my sister will be my maid-of-honor and as she is in Japan with her husband for 3 years it needed to be a time when they would be in the states. June is that time.

Today we met with the pastor and agreed to a time 3pm after we discussed that we wanted to not have a full meal but instead finger foods that could serve as a kind of snack before dinner or a appetizer to a meal that our guests could get after the reception. We agreed to meet the pastor for pre-marriage/wedding counseling prior to the wedding and before we set the final wedding ceremony plans.

We also made our final decisions on floral arrangements. She chose an orangy peach rose while I chose a baby blue rose bud. We feel they compliment each other and are our favorite colors at the same time. We have also decided to get bows for the chairs for the wedding and a aisle runner.

Our budget is not but maybe 1000. So far we have only spent 8.50 on the flowers which were on sale. We plan to make both the boutineers and the flowers for my girls and i with those flowers.

Otherwise that is all that is planned and set in stone. We have discussed the clothing for both of us and our wedding party. We are thinking about having me wear white dress pants and a white corset top. For her we are thinking black dress pants, a long sleeved white button up shirt and a black vest. For my side of the wedding party we want the girls to wear light blue/baby blue dresses of their own choosing. For her side we want them to wear black dress pants and a long sleeved white button up shirt.

We have chosen but have not finalized our wedding party. She wants her friends Kaysha, Jess, Adam and Devin. I want my sister Brandi, my cousin Tara and my friends Katie and Jami. The only people we've asked so far are my sister and her friend Jess. For our flower girls we want my neice Jazmyn and her bio-half sister Autumn. We have only asked Jazmyn and she is confirmed for the wedding. For the ring bearer we decided to ask my nephew Bryson. We havent had a chance to ask him though so that isnt confirmed yet either.

We have discussed having birdseed when we are leaving the reception as well as having a unity candle for the ceremony. These aren't set in stone until we actually buy the stuff for them.

I am so happy that today we set the date firmly and have begun the process of buying the necessities for our union. It seems more real every day. Please feel free to follow this blog and either follow or journey or take tips and learn something from it. Please though if you wish to comment make sure it is not against gay or lesbian unions as the comment will be deleted. We have made our decision to spend our life together and dont need any one telling us how to live our life.
